The Gallery at St. John's, located at 330 Ferry St., Easton, is hosting the Paint Box Art Club's gala Winter Art Show through Sunday, Feb. 24. This art show features paintings in a variety of media which capture local landscapes, bright florals and everyday subjects.
Some of the artists explored their subject outdoors, en plein air. Through a love of painting, 15 artists presented a peaceful haven for art lovers at a reception on Sunday, Jan. 13. The participating artists include: Barb Barker, Will Daskal, Shirley Epstein, Kay Frederick, Marie Gelsomino, Karen Hoffman, Jean Hummel, Linda Kreckel, Peg McCormack, Joyce Powell, Joan Rohn, Joan Sayer, Jackie Shoup, Janine Watt and Brenda Zellner.
The Paint Box Art Club was organized in the late 1970s. Initially, members met in a restored chicken coop on Bradley Young's farm in the Belfast area. Today, members from the Pocono Mountains to the Lehigh Valley meet at the Nazareth Center for the Arts, 30 Belvidere St., Nazareth. They offer many opportunities for artists to display their work. Meetings feature guest speakers who demonstrate their techniques and discuss their art. Workshops offer members ways to improve their art. The club welcomes guests and new members.
The gallery is free and open to the public with Sunday hours from 12-3 p.m. and by appointment. On Sunday, Feb. 3, there will be an Artists' Talk from 12:30-1:30 p.m., and several of the artists will be on hand in person to discuss their artwork.
