The Shawnee Playhouse presents a great line up of shows for the month of December, including “The Nutcracker,” “The Messiah,” Children’s theatre and “Tiny Tim’s Christmas Carol.”
Tiny Tim’s Christmas Carol, running through Dec. 23. This adaptation tells the famous Dickens classic from the perspective of Tiny Tim, who encourages us to see both his world and our own through his wonderfully innocent and child-like eyes.
Show times are 8 p.m. Dec. 8, 15 and 22 and 2 p.m. Dec. 7, 9, 14, 16, 21 and 23. Tickets are: $29; $26 for seniors; $16 for children 17 and younger.
A Winnie the Pooh Christmas Tail, return to the Hundred Acre Wood for a musical celebration of seasonal sharing and caring. Show times are 10 a.m. Dec. 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22. All seats are $12.
The Nutcracker Ballet, presented by C&K Dance Theater, Dec. 21.
In this ballet with music by Tchaikovsky, after everyone is asleep, Clara slips downstairs to play with her Nutcracker. She eventually falls asleep and with a little help from Herr Drosselmeir, her magical dreams begin. Show times are 7 p.m. Dec. 7, 14 and 21; 2 p.m. Dec. 8 and 15. Tickets are $19; $16 for seniors; $12 for kids 17 and younger.
The Messiah annual concert, Dec. 22 at 8 p.m. Sing along with your friends and neighbors, local soloists and live orchestra in Handel’s immortal masterpiece. In the Worthington Ballroom at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. Ticket prices are a $10 donation. Seating is on a first-come-first-served basis.
Hollydaze Kidz Kabaret, running Dec. 6 and 13 at 7 p.m. Open seating, no tickets required. Suggested $8 donation at the door.
